Ease of Use
The TY97’s display is both clear and bright, showcasing primary and secondary frequencies along with airfield identifiers. With the unique ‘Push Step’ knob, changing between 8.33 kHz and 25 kHz is fast and efficient, allowing for quick frequency tuning without compromising situational awareness. Dual Watch mode lets pilots monitor two frequencies at once, functioning as if there are two radios in one.
Say Again Feature
The TY97’s ‘Say Again’ feature allows for the playback of the last received transmission with a single button press. Ideal for student pilots or anyone who may miss a message, it offers reassurance without the need to ask air traffic to repeat. Additionally, a dedicated emergency button instantly switches to 121.5 MHz, ensuring a clear transmission during high-stress situations.
Integrated Intercom
Equipped with a built-in two-place intercom, the TY97 also supports auxiliary inputs for stereo music and audio alerts. It can be integrated with compatible GPS navigators (SL40 and GTR225 protocols), automatically displaying relevant frequencies along the flight route. An airfield database, easily uploaded via the USB port, allows pilots to store over 200 frequencies for added convenience.
Product Design
The TY97’s compact, low-profile design requires no external cooling fans, making it ideal for both new and retrofit installations. Compatible with legacy radios such as the KY 196A, KY 197A, and SL 40, the TY97 provides seamless integration with existing systems, delivering high-performance communication in a sleek package.
